PET FOR SALE
You were in this relationship that blossomed from a beautiful beginning and offered a promise of fulfilling your dreams then this wonderful journey abruptly ended. All of the sudden you're flooded with disbelief, resentment, insecurity, self-pity or even anger. Determined to bury these feelings, you try and swamp yourself with work and seek acceptance from someone proving you are the better one; pride perhaps, to rid of the feeling of inadequacy, the discomfort of rejection or to avoid the fear of getting hurt again. You know you have so much love to give and you feel it's such a waste you're all alone. You like the single life yet there are moments you wish you have someone there to share your interests and break solitude ' seek companionship. You do need someone to take care of and someone who can take care of you. Share those lazy moments in front of the TV, to laugh with, to lean your head onto and share your ideas no matter how funny they may seem.
There is this constant pressure to share this feeling that we get impatient and look in the wrong places. Have you found yourself ending up with pets instead? You get this 'pet'? and find that he/she is a dog, willing to do everything your heart desires to get its reward- a bone or a play. But some dogs seek too much attention bored out of its wits the whole day waiting for you and some barks constantly it doesn't give you time or space to even relax a bit. Then there are the snakes, loves to hunt and deceive its prey'? but once the prey is emotionless and powerless in its grasp, they're no longer interested. It has served its purpose and sucked the life out of you. The cats ' you will try and win its trust and once you do they are loyal always knowing their way back home. But with cats, you have to watch its temper. Yet, all these will pass'? they are all temporary fill. Impatience could leave a sour aftertaste. A fruit is much sweeter when it's ripe and flowers are much lovelier in spring.
Love has its time. Love is like an accident'? you never expect it. It changes your life, makes you reflect, feel a bit uncomfortable but in the end, there is a reason for it. And it makes you think how lucky you are that you are still alive and appreciate life even more. That accident will leave you a mark or a scar that will remain with you forever.
THAT 4-LETTER WORD
Love can be interpreted and applied in many ways – from it being a thick curtain from reality to it being an excuse to some choices we make. Love has many definitions depending on its IMPACT. Like any experiences, its value to one is how painful, bitter or mature it makes you.
Its presence overwhelms the spirit and the mind. It stretches man’s capabilities and reasons beyond limitations, sometimes causing confusion. And its absence could promote instability, insecurity or emptiness. Without it, we cannot justify compassion, forgiveness and peace – life is not.
For me, LOVE is the essence of everything wonderful. It’s the passion behind actions unforeseen, unexpected and unfamiliar, without the fear. Love is a cocktail of faith, trust, integrity, understanding, compromise, commitment and devotion. Love is a discovered territory with a lot of unexplored areas. There’s a lot to learn everyday.
Love… it sneaks up on you when you least expect it; an event that will take you away from your comfort zone and totally turns your world upside down. The only thing that is still sacred in our hearts that would last a lifetime.
So many stories have been told about it and it echoes through the ages. It scares you stupid but the satisfaction you attain just for being able to give it provides you comfort at the same time. We have expectations of how things should be but that’s when we fall.
All the accompanied promises and challenges pushes you to a contained world where your focus is to that of who is now the most important being and nothing else matters. And that’s not how you really like it as it can hurt you really bad, but why is this happening?
The newborn baby, the loss of your loved one, letting go, the union of marriage, the sacrifices… all damn daunting but then the realization that things are meant to be this way “because”, is the mystery that we soon accept and embrace just “because”.
“When do I learn?” I say. Love will never cease to come as long as I see the beauty of what is behind and beyond the reason, the person and the situation. Love is beautiful no matter how it hurts. Ahhh… call me a fool but it’s a “reward” that I deserve.
