A notorious bookworm during her grade school years, Hotcocoa was encouraged to participate on an essay writing competition to talk about books during the celebration of Book Week. To her surprise, her talent was revealed when she won first prize over students 2 grades her senior.
One of the judges, who happened to be the school's journalism teacher, persuaded Hotcocoa to join her school paper team and initially assumed the position of an Editorial Artist. She continued to win various writing competitions through her high school years where she also became the President of the Writers' Club, the Community News and Feature Editor for the school's English paper.
Her passion in dancing and choreography became her distraction until an invitation from Sydney-based Pinoy Radio in 2000 necessitated her to summon her "writing mojo" once more.
She is currently a member of the Filpress Sydney; a columnist for the Philippine Sentinel (Thought Aphrodisiac), a regular contributor for the Filipino Australian and EmanilaPoetry. She is still active in radio broadcasting, co-wrote a song with Oliver Gadista and also belongs to the Editred Community Writing group.
Her genre is "fusion" compromising of poetry, short stories, blogs and news reporting; although she accepts assignments for business profiles, speeches, press releases and other professional write-ups. Her originality, adventurous spirit and sense of humor will make your reading journey an enjoyable one - her creation promises to capture and challenge your imagination!
